That's right, I've joined the hordes of self-entitled hacks striving for nameless recognition from the glorious expanses of the web. And for the amount I've criticized hackneyed blogs, this little experiment in hypocrisy should be an interested one. But I promise not to let my double standards (or increasing self-loathing) to get in the way of trying to relay some of the most entertaining stories and snippets from my travels. If you're willing to spare me the time, oh bored Internet procrastinator, I invite you to check in every week or so, and I'll do my best to fill you in on all the note-worthy experiences of my trip thus far.
So, a brief checklist of accomplishments as of D-Day+3.
1) Have I sat through a piece of daytime children's theatre on the evils of economic greed? Yes.
2) Snuck a group of five minors into Inglourious Basterds? Yes.
3) Missed catching the sunset behind the GG Bridge by minutes? Twice? Of course.
4) Already explored and met most of the professors at the UC Berkeley Paleontology Department? If I need to answer this, you don't know me well enough to be remotely interested in this blog.
5) Have I already been accosted five times by Prop8 Repealers? Yup, and giving them a good ole Canadian lecture on northern superiority always ensues.
6) Waited around in a dark highschooler's bedroom with four other 15-year olds waiting for their parents to go to bed so as to enjoy one of the most cherished horticultural(ish) activities in the Bay Area? sigh....
So to break up this rather meagre track record, I'll be heading into SanFran for the first time in a few minutes to check out the MOMA and some zany outside-the-box burlesque show. I'll let you know how that one goes. Oh, and there's a wicked music festival (http://sfoutsidelands.com/artists/index.php) rolling through here next weekend, so that should make for some good times. If there's anyone on there who is particularly awesome that I don't even know exists (and that's probably most of them), lemme know.
In the meantime, have a frabgous day everybody.
John
